NAHUC Certification Exam Detailed Content Outline

The new exam based on the new detailed content outline will be released on December 14, 2011.

The NAHUC certification examination is designed as a nationally administered comprehensive job-related objective examination. The examination measures knowledge and skills in areas of job performance.  The NAHUC Certification Board relies on a diverse group of certified health unit coordinators to determine the content outline of the exam.

In 2011, new items were pretested in order to gain reliable statistics.  In July 2011, the Certification Board Exam Development Committee (EDC) met with AMP to review the items and their pre-test statistics and select 25 pretest sets. In late July, AMP presented Angoff to the EDC. That is where each proposed test question was reviewed and rated in regards how a minimally competent health unit coordinator will perform. In September, comments based on web review were discussed with the EDC. In November, one more call with the EDC was conducted to review final comments.  The new exam based on the new detailed content outline will be released on December 14, 2011. The new detailed content outline is available in the certification exam candidate handbook and the NAHUC web site.

NAHUC Board Re-alignment and Bylaws Change

At NAHUC’s annual education conference in 2010, members received a copy of the proposed changes along with the revised job descriptions of each board member.  This was similar to the information previously shared with the membership as whole on the Web site. The membership voted to make two small changes to the proposals, so those changes along with the revised bylaws from restructuring are official.

Detailed information is available in the NAHUC Information Handbook. The NAHUC Board of Directors is excited to move forward with these changes and welcomes feedback from the membership as these positions become more defined with time. Click here to view the NAHUC Information Booklet
