Region/Membership News

Last Revised: 12/22/10

It’s hard to believe it’s been three months since I last posted a note. My, how time does fly. Halloween and Thanksgiving has come and gone, a bout of laryngitis, Christmas is in three days, and a new year starts in another ten days. There’s a lot to look forward to in the new year: workshops in Tacoma on February 11 & 12, the annual conference in Las Vegas August 3-6, and the 3rd annual workshop at the Medical Center of Plano in Texas on August 23, National Health Unit Coordinator Day.

We’ve received two applications for state liaisons which means we only need 13 more to achieve the goal of 15 by April. Application is simple: complete a NAHUC committee application and submit to the NAHUC office. The form can be accessed at the link  Forms\candidate_application.htm

What are everyone’s new year's resolutions for 2011? Are they the usual ones of losing weight, remembering to call Mom weekly, telling the immediate family you love them daily, or to quit procrastinating about stopping some activity or habit?  I’d like to put out a challenge to everyone. A challenge that only requires little time and limited activity. Try becoming a state liaison or simply share your secret of certification and membership with one co-worker every other month. Showing pride in our profession by increasing our visibility is one way we can increase our creditability and membership.

Ho! Ho! Ho! and Happy Holidays to all! Wishing everyone a festive and safe holiday season.

Sincerely,

Sara Brown
