Regions 1&2&5 Rap Sheet

It may not seem like it to a lot of the country, but I think Spring is really around the corner!  Time to awaken, stretch, shake off the cobwebs of Winter and look forward to new growth.  I think that we have a harder time keeping New Year’s resolutions that are made in the cold, dark of Winter.  What if our goals coincided with the new growth of Spring…plant the seed, nurture and care for it, and watch as it sprouts into something beautiful.  What are you planning to grow in your personal garden this year?  Learn a new skill?  Improve communications with family or co-workers?  Look for a new way to improve an old process?  Take better care of yourself by exercise and eating healthy?  Your life is a garden and you choose the seeds…will your harvest be flowers or weeds?!?

Whatever you choose to do, consider making NAHUC a part of your new growth.  The great thing about becoming involved in NAHUC is that you can start out by either planting one seed (become a member, become certified, recruit a new member), or planting a flower bed (write an article for the Coordinator, attend a workshop or conference) or plant a full garden (help form a chapter, get involved at the chapter level, or on a national committee).  No matter what you do, YOU will reap the benefits of this new personal growth.  There is room in NAHUC for everyone to be involved!

The Board of Directors just met this past month at the Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort (where the 2011 Conference will be held!) and had wonderful, productive meetings.  It is a privilege to work with others who put the needs of the NAHUC membership first and foremost.  We have taken some big steps to help move NAHUC forward, so keep a lookout for your next issue of the Coordinator for more details.  I hope you are planning on attending the Education Conference in Denver, CO this coming August 4-7. Talk to your facilities now to see if they will help send you…you won’t ever know unless you ask!!
