Message from Region Representative:

 

What a combination of weather this Spring has brought.  Late snows, flooding in Mid-America, tornadoes and hail storms in Oklahoma. I know we all share the same wishes of well-being to all fellow members and their families in hopes that all have been spared injury or loss from nature's fury. But, as the saying goes April showers bring May flowers. What does that leave for June? Don't really want to bum everyone out with weather woes. Mother's Day was Great!!!  Personally, I had an enjoyable luncheon with the family and a warm sunny Texas afternoon. Do hope everyone and their families had a wonderful day.

 

NAHUC has had a very productive month. Be sure and watch "the Coordinator” and the NAHUC web site over the next few months for news about the board realignment. Check out the activity and please share your thoughts and concerns about the new structure.

 

A special Thank You goes out to Lisa Phillips for hosting the very successful 2nd Annual Region 3 NAHUC Workshop with the Medical Center of Plano. There were several informative presenters who shared their expertise in infection control, workplace and home safety and security issues, and the ever favorable HIPAA issues. The rules are expanding and becoming more relevant to all in the healthcare field. Courtesy of North Hills Hospital, Lynn Angulo from the Medical Center of Plano won a registration for NAHUC's Annual Education Conference in Denver in August 2010.

 

We've had tremendous growth in new and renewing members. Not only this month but this year. Professional growth through certification and membership in an association are two aspects that aid in acquiring acceptance of Heath Unit Coordinating a profession. Appreciation goes out to all members, Institutional Providers and to all that have requested information from and about NAHUC including Michelle Campbell and Janice Wright from Baltimore, MD, New Jersey's Cindi Calabrese, and Jacqueline Macri from Pennsylvania.
