Happy Holidays to everyone!  If you are like me, not only is it a busy time with decorating, shopping, and parties but a little crazy at work with lots of patients wanting surgery before the end of the insurance year.  I am glad that this time of year comes to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments and look forward to the promises of the New Year.  As you make those resolutions, think about including NAHUC in them.  If you are not a member, join!  Become certified if you are not currently.  If you are a member, think about becoming involved at a higher level; form or become more involved in a chapter or join a national committee.  All of these will help further you in your career as a health unit coordinator.

I am looking forward to some great NAHUC events this coming year.  In addition to our annual conference in Denver August 4-7, we will be having a workshop in conjunction with the NAHUC Board of Directors winter meetings on February 20th at Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort in Henderson, Nevada.  Check back soon on the seminar/workshop section of this site for details. There is a link at the end of this message.  If your facility or chapter is planning on putting on a workshop, make sure email the NAHUC office so it can be posted on the Web site as well.

Our NAHUC group on Facebook is a great success.  We have over 260 people in the group and there has been a lot of great networking going on.  It is a great forum to ask questions and get ideas, to find others who are experiencing some of the same workplace challenges and to just celebrate a love for doing the job we do.  Take a minute to check out our group, and become “friends” with health unit coordinators from all over the USA and Canada.
