Health Unit Coordinator (H.U.C.) Day  August 23
§Becoming familiar with new technology in our field, clinical physician order entry, and by staying current with our professional association and H.U.C. developments.
§Being critical thinkers.
§Being adaptable to constant change and by being proactive.
§Functioning as data systems and electronic medical record managers and ensuring record integrity and patient safety.
§Becoming more involved with improving unit flow which enhances safe and quality care for patients and families.
Health Unit Coordinators:  the “lighthouse” of the unit….
§Coordinate and anticipate unit activities.
§
§Participate in improving patient safety and unit flow.
§
§Must be an effective communicator…”air traffic controllers”! 
§
§Exhibit excellent customer service.
§
§Show continual dedication to doing a great job.
H.U.C.’s will continually be a true “light” and needed for the future of health care!
