Certification Board Announces New Testing Agency

In the January-March issue of the Coordinator, the NAHUC Certification Board announced its agreement with a new testing agency, Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP).

The transition from the previous testing agency to AMP went well.  Registrations for the exam were accepted beginning in late January.  The exam was first administered in February.  The exam itself has not changed.  Only the company that administers the exam has changed.

Because of the increased costs to the Certification Board, the exam fee was raised by approximately 20%.  This is the first increase in over seven years.  The exam fee is $150 for members and $175 for non-members.

NAHUC offers a certification exam across the U.S.  Test center locations are listed on the web site, www.goAMP.com.  All test candidates should read the certification exam handbook before making their reservation.  The certification handbook is available on the NAHUC web site, www.nahuc.org and the AMP web site, www.goamp.com. The handbook has information about registration, fees, exam content outline, and a list of suggested study resources.  The exam questions are based on the content outline, which is published in the handbook on pages 7-9.

There is also a list of suggested study resources published in the handbook on page 10 of the certification handbook.  Whatever books are used, one should study the topics listed on the exam content outline on pages 7-9 in the certification handbook.  The exam questions are based on the exam content outline topics, not any one book or
resource.

Registration for the exam can be completed over the phone or online. Registration instructions are printed on page 3 of the handbook.  Payment is given to the testing agency, AMP, over the phone or online at the time of reservation.  AMP accepts Visa, MasterCard Discover and American Express. An exam candidate may also pay with money order and use the mail-in registration form on page 11 of the handbook.
